R2D12 – Yoga X

Again today, lots of computers to clean and picked them up from the floor and put them on a lower rack, so lots of bending and staying bent over, but I was able to do it without much issue, so again I am thankful to P90X for this, because man I would have never been able to work like this for so many hours without my back going nuts. However I was so thankful to come home to do Yoga just incase I was close to throwing my back out LOL.

Yoga X:

Yogax

Yoga was awesome as usual, I made sure that my sun salutations were awesome and slow, nice low and slow chaturanga, with a nice upward dog, knees close to the ground but not touching, and nice deep slow pushups before every downward dog and a downward dog that was good enough for the downward dog magazine LOL. I also made sure to engage my core, every once in a while during chaturanga, upward dog or downward dog, I could feel my abs a bit.

Angle poses, still pretty tough and working on them, I still can’t grab my hands on my back.

Half moon segment, again managed it, but it hurt my glut like crazy LOL.

Toe grab, I was able to hold it again for 20sec then I slowly pulled my leg back without falling out of balance.

Crane, Grrr not much of a change here, still hold it for about 5sec and off again.

Wheel, went up for about 10sec then held it with my head for about 10sec and back down to bridge

Yoga belly 7, Damn after feeling my abs for a bit, I really gave them a good burn. As usual I lifted as high as possible and when I got to 3 part touch the sky, I pushed and pushed and grunted to go so high and the burn was so AWESOME!!.

I will say this yoga was fantastic, yes there are a couple of things I still need to work on, but everything else was amazing, one heck of a good Yoga workout ;o)

Tomorrow I will be doing Legs & Back + Ab Ripper X, it was suppose to be Kenpo X but that was pushed back to Friday.

Thank you for your time:

R2D11 – Shoulders & Arms + Ab Ripper X

First off as you know this was suppose to be yesterdays workout, I had to take a rest day yesterday due to being at a B-Day party.

Today was a tough day at work, I did not really have to move a lot of tables, I wish I did LOL but I had to clean a bunch of computers and had to do it on the floor so I spent long hours bending over, picking up the machines and putting them back in a low rack under the desk, it is not the same thing to pick them up and put them on a table, you spend a lot more time bent over with the weight of the computers on lower racks. If I would have done this without ever doing P90X my back would have been killing me right after the 3rd PC, but I worked without any issues, towards the end of the 8hrs, my back was feeling a little sore but I could still get back up and did not have to put my hand on my lumbar spine for support and grunt with pain, so that is cool, God knows the amount of times for years I had to do that, even from washing the dishes for more than 20min LOL.

After all that I still came home straight to workout LOL and after that I wanted to spend some time with my wife, so I took her out for a 1.5hr walk.

Lets see how my workout went after a day of bending and picking stuff up LOL:

Reading this chart:

  • Last column is the difference in reps since the last time I did this workout:
    • Green = More Reps than last time
    • Red = Less Reps than last time
  • R = Reps
  • W = Weight
  • LA = Left Arm
  • RA = Right Arm

First off, I still need some heavier weight of some sort, I will do my best on pay day to purchase a proper resistance band with about 30lbs plus and that way next week I can start using it. But either way I still fell I brought it, it was tough, because I was tired, when I did the first alternating shoulder presses I had to fight to get the extra 2 reps, but I did it.

I will say that some if it I felt I could have done a couple of more reps but I ran out of time and I did not feel like pausing it to do more, as I am just getting mostly tired of picking up the weight and I want to gain muscle instead. I did feel myself get pumped, especially my triceps, as the 20s are still working fine for them.

The last exercise, the side tri-rises, I really fought to get those extra 5, I pushed and huffed those 5 LOL but I did them and that is what really made me feel the triceps for sure. I also had to push the extra 3 for the chair dips, I wanted 5 but I could not do anymore, but I still got an extra 3 at first and that was cool, also I did not only do an extra 3 but I lifted my leg this time OH YEAH BRING IT!! I decided to give it a try and I was like cool I can do this.

Also I was somewhat engaging my core, not sure if I am doing this unconsciously now but I did and I felt my abs a bit towards the end, I thought that will be cool for Ab Ripper X.

Like I mentioned before, I was already feeling my abs a little bit, nothing major but I know they were a bit tight, I also think it had to do with the bending over all day and getting back up. However I started like I did last time, I did 80 for in & out and oh man the burn started right after cross leg sit ups. I was pretty much screaming at the last 5 reps of hip rock and raise and pulse ups LOL Same thing with fifer scissors.

When I reach mason twist I thought I was going to fall over sooner but I managed to push myself to make it to 70 and then I fell over LOL Oh yeah that felt AWESOME!!! :o)

Needless to say that even though I did not have heavier weights I still brought it, especially in Ab Ripper X cause if you feel it like that, you definitely brought it :o)

Tomorrow I have Yoga, and I am glad I do as I still have more computer cleaning to do LOL.

R2D10 – Honorary Rest Day due to B-Day Party LOL

Well like I had mentioned yesterday I probably would get home late and not be able to workout, I feel a little bad but at the same time no biggie I will not miss a workout this week, I will push all my workouts forward a day and this week will end with Kenpo X instead of X Stretch. Saturday will start normal again, however my B-Day is also coming up next week and don’t know if I will have to do the same thing again LOL but no problem, that just means I am swapping the workouts around with the rest day a little bit for this week and maybe next week, but they are still getting done.

So make sure to come back tomorrow as Shoulders & Arms + Ab Ripper X will be done tomorrow, unless I get some sort of craziness hit me and I also do Yoga LOL but it all depends on time, I don’t get home till around 4:30pm so time will be tight to workout for 1hr 16min, take a shower, cook, eat, do some work at home (That’s the problem with teaching you have to bring home work, pardon the pun LOL) then if I have time to spare and only then I may go crazy and do some Yoga, but I guess you’ll have to come back tomorrow to find out if I did go nuts or not LOL.

R2D9 – Plyometrics - OH YEAH!

Today was a nice day, the weather was great, it was a nice day but not overwhelmingly hot and I was able to workout early at 11:30am, that was also awesome and after the workout we went for a 2 hour walk, at the arboretum which was fantastic. So lets see how the workout went…

Plyometrics:

PlyoX

First thing I told myself when I popped in the DVD was, “I will keep up with Dominique today and do everything as he does it” and I totally did and it was so AWESOME!!!. I also tried doing some of the exercises with a bit more power, especially some of the first ones and I did my best to try and engage my core while working out.

When I reached jump knee tuck and Tony started saying “double time”, I was able to keep up with no problem, that got me pretty fired up, cause sometimes even though your able to keep up, it’s tough to do so, but this time, it was not and the second round I was right there with Dominique just bringing it right from the start, and even at the end of that sequence, where you we are jumping and spinning back and forth and Tony asked Dominique for the special all the way around, I was also right on it and managed to all the ones he did, I was dizzy at the end of it LOL but it was fun and awesome :o)

I made sure to bring it on every move till the end. This was one heck of a workout and I loved it! and to top it off I walked for 2 hrs after that, I so brought it today, OH YEAH!!!

Tomorrow I have Shoulders & Arms + Ab Ripper X, I also have a family dinner to go to after I am done work, I will try to workout when I get home, but if for some reason I can’t workout tomorrow I will take tomorrow as rest day and push all workouts one day forward until Friday and Saturday is back to normal.

Thank you for your time:

  • Last column is the difference in reps since the last time I did this workout:
    • Green = More Reps then last time
    • Red = Less Reps then last time
  • N# = No knees
  • K# = Using Knees
  • NC = No Chair
  • C = With Chair assist
  • R = Reps
  • W = Weight

Take a look at that start, I will say I did not listen to Tony yet again and did not pace myself on the first round LOL all I could think of was I wanted to do at least 5 more push ups then last time LOL and I did. I will say I really pushed to make sure I did and that was what really pumped me up. I was not sure if I would be able to pull off 5 more on diamond pushups but I did on both rounds.

The Dive bombers are pretty tough so I decided I would round it off to 15 which was another 3 and I was able to pull it off, I tell you that at the end I had a hard time pulling it off I had to take a break in plank position and then continue, but I managed to pull it off.

On the second round for all the push ups that I could not complete the same way I started, I finished the reps with my knees, the wide fly push ups were the last ones I did on my knees and I had a hard time finishing up my reps, I really really had to push.

The Pull ups: OH MAN! I love it now! LOL so different from a little over a month ago, I hated them. My goal this time was to at least add 2 more on each rep plus my hang time, I keep hanging cause it keeps helping me big time. I will say that today I felt I went a lot higher on my first couple of pull ups on each set. I was so excited because I felt my back getting pumped and that is so awesome, at the same time the top of my pecks were getting pumped and some of my arm muscles like biceps and forearms which are also used in the pull ups were getting pumped, since all of this was pumped and sore I knew I was doing the right thing and I was loving it. YEAH BRING IT!! :o)

I was so worked up from chest & back, even though I was tired LOL that I had to do more in & outs then last time and man that was awesome, it gave me a great start to the ab burn. Half way through it, at the end of every set I was almost screaming LOL it felt so good though, all I could think of was YEAH BRING IT!!! When I reached Mason twist I wanted to do at least 70 but I fell over at 65 and I could not get back up LOL and I was so in to it that when I was doing cobra for stretching my abs I started doing some more push ups LMAO!

Needless to say I had one heck of an awesome workout and I BROUGHT IT!! YEAH!!

Tomorrow I have Plyo and I plan to bring it yet again.

R2D7 – Rest, Weight & Measurements

Today I was going to do X-Stretch like I have done before, but I took the decision that I would go out with my wife for a bit considering she is on vacation and I was working, besides the factor that I was still moving tables and I helped move a large hardwood conference table which seemed to weigh a ton LOL so I think I worked out today LOL.

Alright lets see what happened this first week of P90X Round 2:

WOOHOO I made it in to the 160s now with 169.4 as my weight YAY!!. That means I lost another 3.4lbs and I lost 0.6% body fat, meaning I lost 1.6lbs of fat YAY!!.

This also brings my total body fat loss down to 38lbs!! WOOHOO!!

I figured I would continue to show the caliper calculations. For those new to this, I have to take measurements with the caliper 3 times, then the average measurement of the 3 is taken and used to calculate the Body Fat %, When it was imputed at the top it was rounded up making it 16.1%.

Just in case you are wondering what I use for a caliper, this is the caliper I currently own:

metacal-enh2

It is fairly simple, you pinch a skin fold in certain areas and use the caliper to measure the skin fold in millimeters. There are calculators online, at the present time the easiest for me to do because I do this myself is the 3 point, but I will be hoping at some point to do a 9 point as it is more accurate. There is a website that has an online calculator and it also has videos on how to measure the different points of the body, I prefer the calculator on the spreadsheet as it obligates you to take the measurement 3 times to make sure it is taken correctly, but I do find the videos useful so I will provide the link:

Again lost a bit around the core section, this is awesome, but what impressed me the most is somehow I lost a bit more around my neck, that is good news for sure.

Well I do have something to mention, for 2 weeks now I have been sleeping without the CPAP machine, it took me a bit to get use to sleeping without the machine, but I have been sleeping, I did not say anything as most nights have been hot and I woke up many times during the night, I figured it had to do with heat, but I was not sure if it was the sleep apnea, so I have been waiting for several cool nights in a row to see how I sleep, my wife says I have not bothered her. Before if I slept without the machine, my wife could not sleep in the same room with me, I snored so loud that she had to go out to the living room to sleep, it was one of the reasons I did the sleep test. At this point for the last 2 weeks I have not bothered her at all, I ask every day, did you hear me snore? Did I wake you up? and she says no I slept fine other than waking every now and then to it being to hot. when I had the issue, she wore ear plugs and still heard me, it was that loud. I am pretty impressed, not only has P90X reduced my weight, provided me with a clean bill of health and a solution to my sleep apnea, but because of the weight loss on my neck, the snoring has reduced to the point where I can have my wife back in bed, YAY!! so basically P90X gave me that too LOL :o)

Tomorrow starts Round 2 Week 2 with Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X and I can’t wait to hit that pull up bar :o)

Thank you for your time:

R2D6 – Kenpo X – HOT HOT!

Today was a hot day with high humidity, it was 30C (86F) and with humid X it was 36C(96.8F) when I worked out, oh man, high humidity. But hey it’s all about working out and I don’t need no stinking break LOL Lets see how I did…

kenpo x

It was hot but I went for it anyways. I used my weighted gloves as well and started the fun. I brought in my intensity and started with the speed. I was going faster that the DVD and nice and steady pace, by the time I reached the second break the heat was starting to get the best of me, so I kept my intensity and brought down my speed to what they were doing on the DVD, no less, no more, 50% of the DVD was exactly what was asked and still no break, just running in place, jumping rope, jumping jacks and Xs. I still brought it, thanks to the heat and the non-stop workout I was drenched in sweat.

Heat or no heat it was awesome to workout, and I love Kenpo X, it’s fun fun fun :o)

Well tomorrow I have X Stretch, I will also be taking my weight and measurements, we shall see how this first week of P90X Round 2 has treated me. We need to remember that the first week of round 1, I actually gained weight instead, about 8 lbs, while losing weight at the same time, so the scale showed 4 extra lbs, of course I was building muscle first, and I am taking whey protein isolate this time, we shall find out tomorrow.

Thank you for your time:

Mike
