Today was the last day of P90X Week 1, WOOHOO!!! so I had the choice to either relax or do X Stretch and since I want to become flexible again, I did X Stretch. It is 1hr of stretches, I will say I currently struggle with some of the stretches and their postures, but as I work on it I will get better. It felt really really good to do all these stretches.
This DVD really puts the X on the stretches, you stretch your entire body including feet and fingers. Some of the stretches may cause abdominal air bubbles to move around and well come out LOL. I sleep with a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and I get occasionally air in my abdomen, let just say, it took it out LOL.
OK enough of that. So today is also the day for me weigh myself and take measurements. The results are very interesting and at the same time very good. So lets go to some charts.
Weight Results Chart:
Fit Test | Day 1 | Day 7 | |
Weight | 207.4 | 204.6 | 207.8 |
Body Fat % | 33.4% | 31.3% | 29.5% |
Lean Body Mass | 138.1 | 140.6 | 146.5 |
Fat Body Mass | 69.3 | 64.0 | 61.3 |
Body Surface Area (BSA) | 2.1 | 2.1 | 2.1 |
Body Mass Index (BMI) | 30.6 | 30.2 | 30.7 |
Ok so this is interesting in a good way. The Fit Test was taken 2 days before I started with week 1. Now after I did the Fit Test which nearly killed me LOL, and the next day running around after my 5yo god-daughter, I lost 2.8lbs, and it was in body fat, as you can tell my Body Fat % had gone down 2.1%, so what does that mean, that I lost a total of 5.3lbs of fat and gained 2.5lbs in muscle. Which is great because I also want muscle gain, remember that I am doing Classic and not Lean version and Classic was meant for muscle increase.
Now lets take a look at what has happened since the Fit Test till today. I gained .4lbs, now this alone for anyone who is not tracking the body fat % will make them cry, you gained weight instead of loosing, that would really put a damper on someone and probably make them quit, however thanks to me tracking my body fat, these numbers tell another story. My Body Fat % is 29.5% yeah that’s awesome. So that means that my actual fat in my body is 61.3lbs, comparing that to the Fit Test day, I lost a total of 8lbs in fat, YES! And I gained 8.4lbs in muscle or Lean Body Mass. And that to me for 1 weeks worth of work out is fantastic and considering that I am not following the diet, I am just trying to control my portion intake while also changing some of the things I eat.
So lets take a look at the measurements chart to see what it says.
Measurement Chart:
Fit Test | Day 7 | |
Neck | 18 | 17.5 |
Shoulder | 17 | 16 |
Chest | 45.5 | 45 |
Waist | 44 | 44 |
Abdomen | 44 | 44.5 |
Hips | 41 | 41.5 |
Thigh | 23.5 | 24 |
Knee | 14.5 | 14.5 |
Calf | 15 | 15 |
Ankle | 9 | 9 |
Arm | 13.5 | 15 |
Forearm | 11 | 11.75 |
Wrist | 7.5 | 7.5 |
Waist-Hip Ratio | 1.07317073 | 1.060241 |
Alright so I lost in some places and gain in others, most of the increase was in my arms, which is great, it is muscle gain :o) I did loose around my neck & my chest. However my abdomen and my hips gained .5”. Now the tummy is the last place for one to shed the fat from so basically it has stayed the same for the exception of some abdominal muscle increase.
Well these results have been great, also the first week is hard to measure, there are other things to take in to consideration, normally when you start working out after years of inactivity, the first couple of weeks you are sore, being sore means your muscles are swollen, being swollen means there is extra liquid in your muscles so basically it is like retaining water, so all this adds to weight as well, so we shall see how things go from here, but I am very excited knowing that the fat I lost I was able to convert to muscle and that is enough to encourage me to continue. So all those who have started I urge you to keep track of your body fat % and that will tell you what is actually going on with your body and the scale will not scare you away. So BRING IT!!
Tomorrow week 2 begins, and we start all over with Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X, Yeah Baby.
Well I hope this data helps other people out, be it to start the program, to continue or to simply just understand a bit more what is going on and not run away after looking at the scale.
Thank you for your time and motivational support:

ReplyDeleteThank you Yahel, Glad your finding it helpful, I was hoping someone would, I am collecting plenty of data, only thing I am not collecting as of yet is diet info, only because I need more info, I don't like just to go ahead and eat it because I was told to, but I want to know why. I just like to understand, that way I can adjust things for me. Everyone is different.
